Built for Perth’s sun and sea air
Between 40°C summers and salty coastal breezes, Perth is tough on window furnishings. We recommend materials that hold up here, finished with water-based paints that resist yellowing and peeling.
Our PVC shutters carry a standard 7-year warranty against fading and discolouration, and every install is backed by the people who did it.
Choose wider louvres for a modern, open look, or smaller louvres for the heritage feel that suits Perth’s 1920s to 1940s cottages.
Broken louvre? We repair shutters too
Perth has more than 150 shutter retailers, but very few offer repairs. We fix broken louvres, faulty tilt rods, pins and hardware on PVC and timber shutters, including ones our competitors sold, often for a fraction of the cost of new shutters.

“I am delighted with my shutters! They give my unit a crisp, clean and cosy look. I am very pleased with the way the shutters fit neatly and operate smoothly. Michael was highly professional, personable and efficient from the outset. When providing a quote he explained the products, explained options for each window and took care and time to match the shade of white to the decor. Every care was taken when the shutters were being fitted and all dust from the drilling was cleaned up. I highly recommend the company for their quality products and service.”

“So impressed with the service, installation, and product with Michael from Perth’s Boutique Shutters. Michael also gave us a lot of advice in choosing the right shutters that would suit the look of our house, all while giving us a great honest price. They’ve completely transformed our home while offering style, shade, and natural light when needed. So easy to clean too! Definitely the highlight of our renovations and I can’t wait to show them off.”

★★★★★
“Excellent quality and workmanship. Grant came out to do a measurement, gave an accurate timeline for when the shutters would be ready. Made recommendations on areas that would, and wouldn’t benefit from having shutters installed. Took the old vertical blinds away too. Product itself is wonderful, it’s really opened up the space in the room, does a great job of shutting out excess light, manage privacy and keeps room cool in the summer.”

PVC vs wood vs aluminium: which material is best?

Straight answers to the things Perth homeowners ask us most. Still unsure? Ask us at your free measure and quote.
Which material is best: PVC, basswood or aluminium?
PVC is our favourite for most interior rooms: it’s waterproof, affordable and reinforced with aluminium cores so it won’t sag. Basswood is real timber with a natural grain, best for dry living areas where a classic look matters. Aluminium is built for harsh conditions outside, with a powder-coated finish that resists UV, weather and rust.
Do plantation shutters block out light completely?
They give you excellent control: tilt the louvres for any light level. Fully closed, they block glare and give good darkness, especially full-height designs. They won’t give total blackout like blockout curtains, but they’re ideal for bedrooms, nurseries and media rooms.
Can shutters go in bathrooms, kitchens or outdoors?
Yes. PVC is moisture-proof, so it suits bathrooms, kitchens and laundries. For exterior areas we use aluminium, which handles Perth’s harsh UV and salt air and adds security.
How long does installation take?
In an average Perth home it takes a few hours to a full day, with as little disruption as possible and a professional clean-up afterwards.
How do I clean and look after my shutters?
Dust every couple of weeks with a microfibre cloth or vacuum brush, and spot-clean with mild soap and a damp cloth. Dry timber straight away and avoid harsh chemicals. PVC and aluminium handle moisture better.
Can you repair broken shutters?
Yes. We repair both PVC and timber shutters, and a broken blade or louvre can usually be replaced affordably. Where frames are badly damaged, new shutters can be the smarter long-term choice, and we’ll give you an honest recommendation.
